Greenville Gladiators — is an internal uniform design challenge created at CHAMPRO to push our team creatively and explore new visual directions. As part of a department-wide initiative, our director assigned three keywords—Vintage, Retro, and Titanium—and challenged the graphics team to develop a cohesive sports uniform concept built around those themes within a two-week timeframe.
In my role as Production Art Supervisor, I approached the challenge like a mini brand system: researching color directions that matched the keywords, studying retro and classic athletic references, and building consistency through typography and palette decisions. To keep the concept fresh, I intentionally avoided relying on my go-to colors and used a palette generator to work within combinations I don’t typically choose.
The winning design was selected to be produced as a printed jersey set, and the challenge reinforced a stronger creative culture within the department—turning a simple prompt into real, production-ready uniform concepts.
